Chapter 93: Life Essence.

Edited by: Mochiusagi

Shen Changqing did not refuse.

He was here today to see if there were some clues in the Ten Thousand Flowers Pavilion.

If it wasn’t for all of the Zhou Family members being exterminated, finding out the truth wouldn’t have been this cumbersome.

It made Shen Changqing feel an inexplicable sense of oppression.

The monster that did so was extremely powerful. Even if it was not a Fury Level monster, it would be a powerful Grudge Level monster.

Shen Changqing was not 100% sure if he could deal with it.

Therefore, finding the monster behind the Ten Thousand Flowers Pavilion had become an urgent matter.

Not to mention anything else, harvesting Killing Value and improving his strength was still a top priority.

He did not doubt the Heavenly Inspection Guard’s intelligence gathering capabilities, but since they need to be covert, the process would be slower.

Shen Changqing didn’t want to wait any longer.

So he wanted to use the most direct method, which was going himself.

As soon as he entered the wing, the noisy sound in the hall was cut off a lot, making the atmosphere in the room a little more comfortable.

Looking around the room, Shen Changqing found it to be the same as a women’s private room.

There was an incense burner placed on the table, with curling green smoke diffusing out of it.

"Young Master Shen, please take a seat."

Yanyan took Shen Changqing and sat down, and then rang a bell on the table.

Soon, a maid came in from outside, holding a tray in her hand, which a jug of wine and a few side dishes was placed on top.

After putting the things down, the maid retreated, without saying a word.

After the door closed, Yanyan took the chopsticks and fed some of the food to Shen Changqing: "Have a taste, Young Master Shen. The Ten Thousand Flowers Pavilion’s food is great. Except for Tianyi Lou, there is no other place that can compare to it."

Shen Changqing also opened his mouth, while nodding slightly.

"It’s really good."

Yanyan then poured another glass of wine for Shen Changqing.

""

"Young Master Shen, have a sip of wine."

"Miss Yanyan sure is caring." Shen Changqing had a smile on his face, and did not reject the other party’s gesture.

Just like this, the two ate and drank. Soon, the atmosphere gradually became a little ambiguous.

Shen Changqing suddenly moved, with a curious look on his face.

"With Miss Yanyan’s beauty, why would you stay in a place like Ten Thousand Flowers Pavilion? I believe that you would have no problem marrying into a big family!"

"Young Master Shen jests."

Yanyan’s smile subsided a bit, and there was a tinge of sadness on her face.

"How could I be qualified to enter the doors of a big family? At least, in the Ten Thousand Flowers Pavilion, I can eat and won’t starve to death on the street."

"Young Master Shen is not an ordinary person, so it’s understandable for you to not know the bitterness of the women at the bottom."

While speaking, she wiped the corners of her eyes with a handkerchief, showing a lovable gesture.

Though, Shen Changqing simply turned a blind eye to it. Instead, he shook his head: "On second thought, even if you enter a big family, it may not be a good thing. Take today for example. The Zhou Family got wiped out, causing quite a stir."

"Speaking of, does Miss Yanyan know about the Zhou Family?"

Yanyan chuckled: "The people of the Zhou Family act very lofty, and they never make any mistakes like coming to the Ten Thousand Flowers Pavilion. How can a woman like me, get a chance to have contact with the Zhou Family?"

After saying this, her expression turned charming again. She rested her slender hand on Shen Changqing’s body, as her voice became softer.

"Instead of ‘talking’ about unhappy things, why don’t we ‘do’ happy things?"

"Happy things?"

Shen Changqing slightly raised his eyebrows, pretending to be puzzled.

"You’re embarrassing me Young Master Shen!"

Yanyan looked shy.

Shen Changqing smiled and took another sip of wine. He then suddenly hugged Yanyan, making her exclaim.

However, just as he hugged Yanyan, he suddenly fainted on the bed and fell asleep.

"Young Master…?"

"Young Master Shen?"

Yanyan looked at Shen Changqing, who was asleep on the bed. She gave him a push, but didn’t get the slightest response.

She then got up from the bed and carefully looked at the person in front of her.

After tugging at him twice more and confirming that he was completely asleep, she took out a blank piece of paper from her sleeves.

Spreading out the paper, it looked like a doll the size of a palm.

Holding the paper doll, Yanyan walked up to Shen Changqing, intending to put the paper doll on the latter’s face.

It was then that Shen Changqing’s closed eyes suddenly opened. The sudden change made Yanyan let out a scream.

Just as she was about to withdraw her hand, a broad palm already grabbed her wrist.

Her bones creaked. The severe pain made Yanyan’s face turn pale and distorted.

"It’s painful, let go!"

No matter how hard she struggled, she couldn’t break free.

Shen Changqing got up from the bed and looked at the paper doll in Yanyan’s hand. By now, the smile on his face had long disappeared.

"Tell me, what is this for?"

He questioned.

An ugly smile appeared on Yanyan’s face: "Young Master Shen, Young Master Shen, this is a misunderstanding. This is just an ornament"

At this time, Shen Changqing drew the sword on his waist.

The frosty blade rested on Yanyan’s neck.

The bone-chilling chill instantly made Yanyan’s complexion change, and cold sweat broke out on her forehead.

"I’m not joking with you. I’ll give you one last chance to tell me what it’s used for. Otherwise, I’ll kill you!"

Yanyan finally gave in, as her resistance broke down. She fell on the bed and although Shen Changqing let go of her wrist, his sword was ready to do that ‘deed’.

"The paper doll is used to absorb the Life Essence of people—"

"The Life Essence of people?"

Shen Changqing looked at the paper doll and felt an Evil Aura wafting from it.

"As a normal person, why are you colluding with demons?"

"A normal person—"

When Yanyan heard this, her eyes became cloudy. She stroked her face with her hand, and her skin suddenly began to crack.

"A normal person. Young Master Shen thinks I’m a normal person?"

At this moment, one of her eyeballs fell out and jet-black blood spurted out.

Shen Changqing’s complexion slightly changed and he instantly swung his sword. Yanyan’s head fell to the ground.

Immediately after, the corpse of the other party rotted at a speed visible to the naked eye, followed by a strong stench.

"Corpse Puppet!"

Shen Changqing’s expression changed again.

How was she a Corpse Puppet!?

It was impossible for Corpse Puppets to have consciousness. Although their actions were no different from ordinary people, experienced people could still detect some clues.

But in this case, whether it’s Qing’er or Yanyan, their behavior was no different from ordinary people.

More importantly, Shen Changqing did not find enough Evil Aura from the two of them to conclude that they were Corpse Puppets.

But now, he had witnessed it happening right before his eyes.

Yanyan was really a Corpse Puppet!

""

Shen Changqing’s expression became ugly.

A Corpse Puppet usually wasn’t concerning, but if the Corpse Puppet was so powerful that he couldn’t even detect it, that could only mean that the refining method that made the Corpse Puppet to be beyond simple.

"There is definitely a powerful monster hidden in the Ten Thousand Flowers Pavilion!"

"Judging from Yanyan’s previous performance, it seems that the other party does not know her identity as a Corpse Puppet. Though, it could also be that she was just pretending. In any case, this means that the rest of the people here are also very likely to be Corpse Puppets!"

He sheathed his sword, as Shen Changqing spent a lot of time thinking in the short period of time.

If the people in the Ten Thousand Flowers Pavilion were all Corpse Puppets, then things would at least become simpler. It was because as long as the one controlling the Corpse Puppets was dead, the entire Ten Thousand Flowers Pavilion would be wiped out.

That someone should be here, since manipulating Corpse Puppets requires one to be within a close proximity.

As long as the Ten Thousand Flowers Pavilion was destroyed, the Eternal Life Alliance would surface.

"Sure enough—"

"If I want to deal with demons, no matter how much I think about it, it still depends on my strength."

Shen Changqing opened the door and walked out.

The originally noisy hall had now become empty.

The hanging red lanterns dyed the building a blood-red color.

It was quiet!

Too quiet!

In Shen Changqing’s perception, it was as if there was no living person in the entire building.

With this situation, his heart sank again.

An illusion!?

Shen Changqing was not sure.

This proved that the existence hidden in the Ten Thousand Flowers Pavilion no longer intended to remain hidden.

At this moment, a strong wind blew from behind him.

Shen Changqing didn’t even think about it. He directly turned around and slashed. He then saw a figure disappear in front of him.

Evil aura surged from all directions.

Without any hesitation, Shen Changqing jumped from the second floor to the first floor, and then rushed towards the outside of the building.

[Boom-]

The door slammed shut.

However, Shen Changqing kept moving. The veins in his hand that was holding the sword were bulging, as he violently swung.

[Boom~]!

The door shattered, sending wood debris to fly everywhere.

When Shen Changqing was about to step out, the scene in front of him changed. The brightly lit Ten Thousand Flowers Pavilion had disappeared. Instead, it was replaced with some grass, withered trees, and dilapidated houses.

He seemed to be in a deserted village.
